Day 6: Travel Day to Inverness

Up and at em early this morning to catch 2 busses and a train to Inverness, with a 2 hr layover in Glasgow where I picked up some interesting varieties of donuts at Tantrum Donuts and proceeded to leave my phone on their counter while figuring out how to juggle the box of donuts and my luggage while walking 4 blocks to the train station. I ran back like a maniac with everything in tow and THANK SWEET BABY JAYSUS they had held it for me. I probably would have just given up and come home if it was gone forever. For those of you praying for my safety and sanity, thank you! You also might wanna throw in a few extra so I'll stop being a dumb ass! 🤪

Anywho, I LOVE INVERNESS! It’s literally like a step back in time with a few modern amenities sprinkled in. Quick drink at Gellions, which is apparently the oldest pub in Inverness and does NOT allow hamsters. Then a warm cozy dinner of smoked haddock chowder called Cullen Skink with a kiwi/lime cider and a sticky toffee pudding at The Castle Tavern along the River Ness. Delightful! Still laying off red meat and ale for the time being.

I have a special appointment in the morning 😉 before I take off for a day long Highlands bus tour that includes Culloden Battlefield. SO EXCITED!

G’nite from the Melrose Inn in the Highlands!
