A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes...
Long about the mid 1980's, thanks to a Walter Elias Disney and his team of magical Imagineers, I became enamored with a certain city across the pond. Mary Poppins and her sooty faced Motley Crue standing on the rooftops of London watching the sun set and twinkling lights ablaze awakened a whole new world for me. Or maybe it was Peter Pan and his squad's night flight and pitstop on that famous clock tower before heading on to the second star to the right.
Fast forward 10 years or so when Jane Austen entered my realm and I became obsessed with being rescued by a charming and utterly devastating bloke on a rainy day amongst the rolling green hills of the English countryside.
Last but certainly not least, I can’t remember a time when I didn't want to live in the 100 Acre Wood with my Pooh Bear and his rag tag group of homies. Thank you A.A. Milne.
As my own world expanded, Ireland and Scotland came into view and I became even more enamored with more rolling green hills in the Emerald Isle and the craggy peaks and valleys of the Scottish Highlands. Their tumultuous histories tugged at my heartstrings and I longed to see how my own ancestral history was intertwined.
Who knew that it would take 40 + years, a heartbreaking job loss, and a few months of personal angst and deep reflection to make these dreams a reality?
Well, it did, and here I am just 2 days away from skipping across that big ‘ol pond! With passport finally in hand and a rolling backpack filled with waterproof everything, I’d like to invite you to follow me on this journey. It.Is.Time.
