Day 10: Lake District Bus Tour ALL Day!

I had to post some pics earlier on FaceBook and couldn’t wait for the blog because I was just awestruck that I was actually in the Lake District! Like I mentioned, the pics don’t do it justice. I wanted to take a picture every 5 seconds because everywhere I looked was just amazing. I really tried to narrow them down for you guys because if you’re not seeing it in person, the pics seem kind of redundant. It just feels like some magical land from a movie but it really exists and people actually get to live their lives there! I really felt compelled to roll myself down those green hills or spin in circles whilst singing “Sound of Music” or something. Thankfully I refrained from doing either!

I wish I could remember all the names of the lakes or “meres” but some bigger ones are Windmere, Grasmere, Buttermere. Brassenthwaite Lake is the only one with with actual word lake in it.

When we got near the top of the Lake District pretty high up nearer to the Peak District, there is a slate quarry and the pics taken of me from afar on the edge of a cliff wall by a statue were taken by someone on my bus tour unbeknownst to me at the time. She said if I fell off and died, she wanted to have the last moments of me alive! lol Its crazy how unafraid of heights I now am when 20 years ago, I wouldn’t even fly.

Gonna shoot for Beatrix Potter's Hilltop Farm tomorrow morning which she purchased with the proceeds from The Tales of Peter Rabbit. She grew up taking holidays in the Lake District and the area influenced her plethora of adventurous animal tales. She eventually owned many properties and lived out her life in this wonderland with a lot of sheep. I think she was cremated and her ashes spread at Hilltop Farm. I will clarify tomorrow.

Off to Liverpool tomorrow afternoon to hang out with a friend of a friend, then onto a Yorkshire Dales bus tour on Sunday.

Cheers mates! Still sore, knees still shot, but I’m so happy!!
